Battery Systems offers both high-quality, reliable products, and a customer-first approach to service. We have succeeded with our customer-centric outlook; we are the largest independent battery distributor in the U.S. Our success in distribution led our decision to provide our customers with our amazing service and products directly- via our new online store!
We ship via UPS and also offer totally free local pickup from one of our many locations sometimes as soon as the same day.
At Battery Systems, our goal is to provide our customers with the best battery products available on the market, combined with the most efficient service in the industry, offered at the most competitive prices, in ever expanding markets. We realize that the customer’s needs and our ability to meet those needs are the determining factor in the success or failure of our business. We strive to treat each and every customer like we would like to be treated by our suppliers. To meet these objectives, we employ only people whose focus is on our goal and whose positive attitude and sense of teamwork gives our customers a reason to do business with us.
Join Our Team!Battery Systems entered the battery business in 1955 when the founder, Harry Streelman, nicknamed Deadcell Harry, started a small battery rebuilding and recycling business in Southern California. His nickname came from his business: picking up dead tar-top batteries from local auto dealerships, removing the tar, replacing the bad cells and selling the rebuilt part back to the dealers. In essence, he was an early recycler of batteries.
Deadcell Harry's hard work ethic and commitment to customer service was learned well by his sons. In the 1980's, they began to add more locations, and increase Battery System's footprint to cover not just Southern California, but the entire Western United States. In the 1980's and 90's, Battery Systems grew to over 30 locations, all the while, building on the foundation of having the best Service, Products, and People
As the Battery Systems footprint expanded, we decided to enter into new markets. We augmented our product line to include industrial backup batteries, renewable energy, and railroad batteries, among other sectors. We also grew our sales team exponentially; we increased to over 50 sales team members between 2005 and 2016 so that we can attend to each and every customer at the highest possible level.
Fast forward to 2019. Sixty years after our humble beginnings, the company is still recycling batteries. In fact, we still stick to our roots and sell traditional Auto, Commercial, Marine, Motive Power, and Powersports batteries. Battery Systems has grown to become the largest, independently owned battery distribution team in the US with over 60 locations, and distribution in all 50 states. Battery Systems has expanded into a wide range of batteries— with applications from hearing aids to helicopters. We have grown our reach and our product line, offering products such as uninterruptible power supplies and accessories. Our future will be a combination of old and new, serving our customers’ essential battery needs as we have since 1955, while finding new ways and new technologies to better serve our customers.
